Summary
This JFSC notice sets out the fees payable by persons registered to carry on general insurance mediation business (GIMB) in Jersey for the period 1 January to 31 December 2025. It covers application fees, annual fees (based on business class and brokerage income), and late payment or late filing penalties. Note: this notice has been superseded by a later annual fees notice.
- Application fee: Payable when applying to register for GIMB, with the amount depending on the prescribed class of business (Class P, Q, R or S) as set out in Schedule 1, ranging from £151 to £8,974.
- Annual fee: Payable each year of registration (except the first year), based on class of business and brokerage income tier, as set out in Schedule 2; ranges from £92 up to £15,137 depending on class and income band.
- Reduced annual fee for exempted persons: Persons within Class P, Q, R or S who have a Jersey place of business or are Jersey-incorporated and are exempted under an Order made under Article 171 or 202 of the Law pay a flat annual fee of £92.
- Late payment fee: If the annual fee is not paid by the due date, a late payment fee of 5% of the unpaid principal is added on the day after the due date and on the first day of each subsequent calendar month.
- Late fee information administration charge: If a firm fails to supply the information needed to calculate its annual fee by the due date on the form, a £200 administration fee is charged the day after the due date and on the first day of each subsequent month while the information remains outstanding, in addition to any late payment fee.
- Late filing fee: Failure to file or deliver any required document (including supervisory risk data) by its due date incurs a fee of £100 per complete month or part month the document remains outstanding, unless the JFSC has agreed in writing to a later due date.
Key obligations
- Pay the applicable application fee (per Schedule 1) when applying to register for general insurance mediation business.
- Pay the applicable annual fee (per Schedule 2, based on class and brokerage income) for each year of registration after the first.
- Persons meeting the paragraph 3.2 exemption criteria must pay the flat annual fee of £92.
- Pay a late payment fee of 5% of unpaid annual fee if not paid by the due date, recurring monthly until paid.
- Supply required fee calculation information by the due date stated on the form, or incur a £200 administration fee recurring monthly until supplied.
- File or deliver any required document (including supervisory risk data) by its due date, or incur a £100 late filing fee per month or part month outstanding, unless the JFSC has agreed in writing to a later date.
