Statement of Guidance
Validation and verification of the '11.2 Liquidity – Large Deposits' Sheet (September 2019)
Status not confirmedView on JFSC's website Source document
Summary
This is a technical guidance note explaining the automated validation and verification checks the JFSC applies to the '11.2 Liquidity - Large Deposits' sheet, part of the prudential reporting template submitted by OIBs. It does not create new substantive requirements but documents the data-entry rules and calculation checks that will be run when the sheet is submitted, so filers can understand and pre-empt validation error messages.
- Data input checks: Cells for items B.1 to B.10 and D.1 to D.10 (columns C3-C12 and C14-C23) must contain whole numbers in the range 0 to +1,000,000.
- Excel limitations: Native Excel validation only restricts monetary cells to integers between -1,000,000,000 and +1,000,000,000 (representing up to +/- £1 trillion given the £1,000 unit), so it is not a failsafe; OIBs must check their own data before submission.
- Calculation checks: Cell C13 (item B.0) must equal the sum of C3:C12, and cell C24 (item D.0) must equal the sum of C14:C23.
- Submission process: On submission, the JFSC runs these checks; if all pass, the submission is accepted and the OIB is notified together with any warnings.
Each check has a unique identifier included in any error or warning message, which filers can match against the tables in this guidance to diagnose submission issues.
Key obligations
- OIBs must ensure values entered for items B.1-B.10 and D.1-D.10 on the 11.2 Liquidity - Large Deposits sheet are whole numbers within the range 0 to +1,000,000
- OIBs must verify their own data prior to submission, as Excel's built-in validation is not a failsafe
- The calculated totals in cells C13 (sum of C3:C12) and C24 (sum of C14:C23) must be correct for the submission to pass validation
