Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) · Cayman Islands

Issued 2025-11-14

Current version last checked: 2026-07-05

Summary

This is a General Industry Notice from CIMA reminding regulated funds and their operators that updated de-registration forms for mutual funds and private funds went live on the REEFS portal as of 8 November 2025. All de-registration (termination) applications must now be submitted through REEFS using two new forms, and the previous practice of emailing private fund de-registration applications to CIMA's Terminations mailbox is no longer accepted.

  • TMF-147-22 v2 (Termination of a Mutual Fund or Private Fund): Replaces the prior TMF-147-22 form and now covers both mutual funds and private funds.
  • TRS-142-99 v2 (Termination of a SP or Series Trust or Sub-Fund): Replaces the prior TRS-142-99 form and expands coverage to include private fund sub-funds and alternative investment vehicles (AIVs) that are not separately registered as private funds.

CIMA references completion guides (TMF-142-77 v2 and TRS-142-99 v2) for assistance, and points readers to an earlier 3 November 2025 notice for full details on the changes and transition arrangements, which applied through 20 November 2025.

This notice applies to mutual funds, private funds, segregated portfolio/series trusts and sub-funds, and alternative investment vehicles that are terminating or de-registering with CIMA, and to the administrators, operators or agents who submit such applications on their behalf.
