Notice

Extension of Penalties Application for Revised Fund Fees (2026-02-13)

Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) · Cayman Islands

Issued 2026-02-13

Current version last checked: 2026-07-05

Summary

This is a short CIMA general industry notice extending, for a second time, the deadline for regulated mutual funds and private funds to pay the incremental portion of recently revised annual fees. Following an earlier notice dated 4 February 2026 and in response to industry feedback, CIMA has pushed the settlement deadline for the increased (incremental) portion of the annual fee to 15 March 2026, citing the time funds need for internal reconciliation, administration and payment processing under the new fee framework.

  • Incremental fee: The extension applies only to the incremental increase amount, not to the underlying pre-revised annual fee, with a new settlement deadline of 15 March 2026.
  • Base fee: The statutory deadline for the pre-revised annual fee remained 15 January 2026, and late payment of that base fee has already been subject to penalties since that date.
  • Action for funds: Funds and their administrators should ensure the base fee (if not already paid) is settled immediately to stop penalty accrual, while using the extension only to complete payment of the incremental fee increase by 15 March 2026.

Entities with questions are directed to email CIMA's Investments division at ContactInvestments@cima.ky.

Key obligations

  • Regulated mutual funds and private funds must settle the outstanding incremental annual fee increase by 15 March 2026 to fall within the extension.
  • Entities must remit the pre-revised annual fee by the original statutory deadline of 15 January 2026; late payment of this base fee remains subject to penalties accruing from that date, unaffected by the extension.
  • Entities seeking clarification on the fee framework or extension should contact CIMA via ContactInvestments@cima.ky.
