Summary
This is a general industry notice issued by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) on 20 March 2020, informing the public and regulated entities that CIMA continues to operate despite the COVID-19 pandemic. It describes operational adjustments the Authority has made, including expanded remote working arrangements for staff, a shift toward virtual/video meetings instead of face-to-face contact with external parties, and confirmation that online platforms such as REEFS remain fully functional.
Office Access Changes
- Main reception (SIX, Cricket Square): Remains open but with reduced hours: closes at 2:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays for sanitation, and was closed entirely on Friday 20 March 2020; normal hours (8:30 am–5:00 pm) apply on other weekdays.
- Currency sales counter: The counter at the Government Administration Building is closed until further notice.
- Visitor Guidelines: Visitors to CIMA's offices are asked to follow posted Visitor Guidelines.
- Document acceptance: Documents will not be accepted outside the stated reduced hours.
This is purely an informational/operational notice about CIMA's own business continuity measures during the pandemic; it does not impose new regulatory requirements, filing obligations, or compliance deadlines on licensees or other regulated entities. Licensees and stakeholders are simply advised to contact CIMA via email for urgent matters and to check the CIMA website for further updates.
