Summary
This is a public statement issued by the Jersey Financial Services Commission under Article 25(2) of the Financial Services (Jersey) Law 1998, warning the public against dealing with an unauthorised entity calling itself AIBWT Nominees Limited, operated via the websites www.aibwt-nominees.com and aibwt.com by a person purportedly named Jamal Wehbeh.
- Unauthorised activity: AIBWT Nominees, as described on the Websites, has never been registered or applied for registration under the Financial Services Law, and any financial service business it has carried out since 1 July 1999 breaches Article 7 of that Law.
- No connection to genuine firm: AIBWT Nominees, Jamal Wehbeh and the Websites are not connected to the genuine, authorised AIBJT Nominees Limited or any company within the AIB Group.
- Fraud warning: The Commission states the Websites provide false and misleading information and display warning signs of being set up for a fraudulent purpose.
- Call to action: Anyone who has had dealings with AIBWT Nominees as described on the Websites is asked to contact the Commission, and members of the public are reminded that all regulated businesses in Jersey are listed on the Commission's website.
The statement is purely informational and protective in nature; it does not impose ongoing compliance obligations on regulated entities but serves to alert investors and the public to an unauthorised and potentially fraudulent operation.
