Summary
This is a formal record (proces-verbal) confirming that on 26 November 2024, Duncan E. Nicol, Director of the Department for International Tax Cooperation, signed a Declaration on behalf of the Cayman Islands to join the Multilateral Competent Authority Agreement on Automatic Exchange of Information pursuant to the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF MCAA).
- Effect: The Competent Authority of the Cayman Islands is now treated as a signatory to the CARF MCAA as of 26 November 2024.
- Mechanics: An electronic copy was sent to the Cayman Islands Competent Authority, with the original retained in the OECD archives.
This document is an international administrative record rather than domestic legislation or regulatory guidance. It does not itself impose reporting duties on crypto-asset service providers or other private entities; implementing legislation or regulations under the Cayman Islands' domestic framework would be needed to operationalise CARF reporting obligations for such entities.
