Summary

This is a short Commencement Order made by the Cayman Islands Cabinet that sets the date on which the Monetary Authority (Amendment and Validation) Act, 2024 (Act 17 of 2024) takes legal effect. It does not itself contain substantive amendments to CIMA's powers or functions; those are found in the underlying Act, which this Order merely activates.

  • Effective date: The Monetary Authority (Amendment and Validation) Act, 2024 comes into force on 1 January 2025.
  • Made: In Cabinet on 17 December 2024.
  • Published: In Legislation Gazette No. 47 (Supplement No. 21) on 19 December 2024.

Because the document is purely a commencement mechanism, it does not itself impose compliance obligations on regulated entities; any obligations or changes affecting licensees would stem from the substantive provisions of the Monetary Authority (Amendment and Validation) Act, 2024 itself, which is not reproduced in this text.

Deadlines

  • 1st January, 2025: Date on which the Monetary Authority (Amendment and Validation) Act, 2024 comes into force.
