Summary

This is CIMA's consolidated Fee Schedule, effective 1 January 2025, setting out the application fees, licence-grant fees, annual fees, renewal fees, and administrative/sundry fees payable by entities licensed or registered under Cayman Islands regulatory laws. The document itself does not create new regulatory requirements beyond fee amounts and payment penalties; it is a reference schedule showing what must be paid and, in some cases, when fees become delinquent. Fees are stated in both CI$ and US$ (converted at a stated rate of ~0.82).

  • Banks and trust companies (Category A and B)
  • Trust companies
  • Company managers
  • Corporate service providers
  • Investment business/securities investment business
  • Money services businesses
  • Insurance
  • Mutual funds and private funds
  • Mutual fund administrators
  • CIMA administrative (sundry) fees
  • A separate schedule applies to virtual asset service providers

Late annual/renewal fees generally incur a penalty of one-twelfth of the annual/renewal fee for each month the payment remains outstanding. For Company Managers and Corporate Service Providers, a licence for which the renewal fee remains unpaid by 31 March in any year lapses immediately, though it can be reinstated within one month by paying the fee, surcharges, and a 10% administration fee.

This schedule affects essentially all CIMA-regulated entities operating in or from the Cayman Islands, since it lists the specific dollar fees applicable to each licence category, registration type, and administrative application (e.g., changes of name, extensions, exemptions, senior officer approvals). Compliance officers should use it to confirm the correct fee amounts and penalty consequences applicable to their entity type, and note the 31 March lapse deadline for company managers' and corporate service providers' renewal fees.

Key obligations

  • Licensees and registrants must pay the applicable application, licence-grant, annual, or renewal fees set out in the schedule for their entity category.
  • Annual/renewal fees not paid on time accrue a penalty of one-twelfth of the annual/renewal fee for each month the payment remains outstanding.
  • Company Managers and Corporate Service Providers whose renewal fee remains unpaid by 31 March in any year have their licence lapse forthwith; to reinstate, within one month they must pay the prescribed renewal fee, applicable surcharges, and a 10% administration fee.
  • Applicants must pay specified non-refundable fees for various administrative applications (e.g., senior officer appointments, licence term variations, business plan changes, name changes, filing extensions, exemption/waiver requests, restricted word use, service provider changes).
