Summary

This is a Statutory Instrument issued by the BVI Financial Services Commission under section 2(1) of the Regulatory Code, 2009. It designates a specific list of investment exchanges as 'recognised exchanges' for purposes of the Regulatory Code, which affects how securities and investments traded on those exchanges are treated under BVI financial services law.

  • Lists over 30 named exchanges as recognised, including the New York Stock Exchange, London Stock Exchange Plc, Cayman Islands Stock Exchange, Tokyo Stock Exchange, EUREX, ICE Futures Europe and ICE Futures U.S. Inc., among others.
  • Only investments listed or traded on these named exchanges qualify for treatment as being on a 'recognised exchange' under the Regulatory Code.
  • The Notice took effect on 15 January 2016 and this revision reflects the text as at 1 January 2020.

The Notice itself does not create ongoing filing or reporting duties; it is a designation instrument that regulated persons and their advisers should consult when determining whether a given exchange qualifies as recognised for regulatory purposes under the Code.
