Summary

This is an informational advisory from the BVI Financial Services Commission notifying the public that a UK Order of Council extending to the Territory has formally revoked a set of outdated United Nations sanctions orders. The revoked orders relate to sanctions regimes (Serbia and Montenegro, former Yugoslavia, Eritrea and Ethiopia) that had already ceased to have effect because the underlying UN sanctions measures had terminated. No new sanctions obligations are created; this is a housekeeping notice.

  • The Serbia and Montenegro (United Nations Prohibition of Flights)(Dependent Territories) Order 1992
  • The Serbia and Montenegro (United Nations Sanctions)(Dependent Territories) Order 1993
  • The Former Yugoslavia (United Nations Sanctions)(Dependent Territories) Order 1994

  • The Eritrea and Ethiopia (United Nations Sanctions)(Overseas Territories) Order 2000
  • The Eritrea and Ethiopia (United Nations Sanctions)(Overseas Territories)(Amendment) Order 2000

The Order was ratified and extended to the Territory on 14 November 2012 by virtue of Schedule 1 to the Order. The FSC directs readers to the full text of the Order on the UK legislation website for reference.
